November in Gay Santa Fe! - Santa Fe Gay Realtor
As November rang in so did the realization that the new year was just around the corner. Fortunately, my company, Barker Realty, had a business planning retreat at the beautiful Hotel Santa Fe. It was a great day spent getting a business plan ready for the new year. It was a good opportunity to focus and to be able to hit the ground running when the new year dawns.
Feeling organized, we had another dinner party at our house for 4 friends. We spent hours grazing at the dinning table enjoying good food, wine and conversation with some dear friends.
As the work week began, I spent several days showing horse ranches to Texans relocating to the area. It was a challenge to find a suitable home with enough acreage to accommodate six horses but after driving through the beautiful countryside was able to do so.
As counties, one by one, across New Mexico began to allow same sex marriage, we attend our first such marriage. Held at a lovely Santa Fe church, three couples all tied the knot simultaneously. What an event! So good to see so many of my friends taking the plunge! I am sure there will be more to follow.
Joined a group of my friends on the Veterans Holiday to go to lunch and attend a movie. We felt like we were playing hooky and enjoyed our time off.
The following weekend we attend a dinner party at a fabulous home in the Northwest quadrant of Santa Fe. Having sold the home a handful of years ago, we quickly became friends with the owners. Along with the bartender, he served refreshing cocktails and a delicious meal!
The following day, we attend an enormous brunch at another friend’s home off Hyde Park Road. They went overboard: Ham, cheesy potatoes, cinnamon rolls, pumpkin pancakes, bottles and bottle of champagne!
And of course, we rolled right into Thanksgiving. A friend hosted a potluck at his home and the feast continued. Of course, we had all the traditional favorites including: turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, brussel sprouts, macaroni and cheese! But first we started with butternut squash soup and lobster dip. We ended the meal with pumpkin cheesecake, apple and chocolate pecan pie!
Barely able to waddle our way home, we had to leave the feast to go home to pack. The following morning we boarded a plan to NYC where we stayed with friends for five days in Manhattan. Our gracious hosts acted as our personal guides to the city. They took us to a broadway show, the Guggenheim museum, Chelsea Market, Rockefeller center to see the lighting of the Christmas tree, Times Square and of course dining from one end of the island to the other. Exhaustedly, we board the plane for a return trip to Santa Fe. NYC is a fantastic place to visit but there is nothing like coming home to the city different!
